A little clearer.
With every change.

What’s taking shape in SQL Ocean, from the workspace around your queries to the tools behind them.

A redesigned workspace.
And a new name for your assistant.

The current development build brings a clearer layout and a more consistent look across the app.

  • A new way around. Labelled icon navigation, a connection sidebar and a searchable command bar replace the crowded menu bar. Grouped menus retain the existing tools.
  • A focused query toolbar. One Run button with current-statement and selection options.
  • Meet Cove. Ocean AI is now Cove. Existing conversations and provider preferences are preserved.
  • Room for both panels. The JSON Inspector sits beside results, with Cove in a separate themed panel at the far right.
  • A more personal workspace. Per-connection custom colours, coordinated dialogs and connection screens, and consistent selected-row colours.
  • An optional companion. A draggable Cove helper with remembered position, dismissible reactions, appearance settings and reduced-motion support.

Explore further.
Keep control of the query.

  • Expandable database explorer. Browse database → schema → table → column in PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL Server. Filter, refresh and load metadata on demand. Pending edits and open transactions block database switching.
  • More engines. SQL Server and DuckDB, plus native adapters for Oracle, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redis, ClickHouse and Cassandra. Capabilities vary; remote engines require live validation.
  • Query and table tools. Query history, parameter prompts, completion, cancellation, per-tab transactions, server-side table filters and sorting, and paged results.
  • Schema and transfer tools. Review schema-change SQL, inspect declared relationships, use database SSH tunnels and native backup/restore where supported.
  • Review AI proposals. Explicitly review and run suggested SQL, then choose whether to attach bounded result or error samples to a subsequent message.

Shared work.
Clearer account details.

  • Cloud Workspaces. Personal and shared SQL/connection definitions, folders, roles, invitations, history, conflicts and activity records. Public hosted availability and real licence sign-in remain separate validation steps.
  • Trial and account information. Immediate first-run trial access, optional email verification and email-confirmed recovery that preserves the original trial.
  • Hosted licence service. Desktop validation, activation and account information use the hosted SQL Ocean licence service by default.

Public installers are still being prepared. These notes describe application development; they do not announce a new public release.
