SQL OCEAN / DATA & CONTROL
Your data.
Informed choices.
SQL Ocean is a desktop database workspace. These explanations describe the documented development capabilities; public installers are being prepared. They do not claim a security certification or universal provider compatibility.
What does Cove share with a model?
By default, Cove can include discovered table and view definitions, columns, primary keys and declared foreign keys. It also includes the conversation and SQL you choose to attach. You can narrow the table selection. Database connection credentials are excluded from the AI context.
Results are shared when you explicitly request a summary or attach a bounded result/error sample to a subsequent message. Summaries are limited to 50 returned rows, 40 columns and 20,000 characters of JSON. Long cells may be shortened. A sample is not the entire table. Read the full context explanation.
Does a local endpoint keep everything local?
Only if the chosen model actually runs locally. Cloud profiles send attached context to your selected provider. An Ollama or other localhost endpoint can also be configured to use a cloud model. Check the model and endpoint configuration before sharing sensitive information.
Can AI execute SQL automatically?
Cove proposes SQL for explicit review and execution. Its schema tools inspect attached definitions; they cannot execute SQL, access files or run shell commands. Review proposed statements and use appropriate database-account permissions before running them.
What about saved keys and conversations?
Saved keys and chat history are encrypted on your device. Result attachments can be retained in that chat history. Encryption does not change what is sent to a cloud provider when you choose to use it.
